Life is Better With A Buddy
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Buddy Up K9 stands beside our veterans and first responders through the next chapter—one steady step at a time. Whether you're seeking a loyal companion or looking to support one, you're part of the mission.
Our Mission
At Buddy Up K9, our mission is to provide trained or thoughtfully matched companion dogs to current military members, veterans, first responders (past and present), and Gold Star families. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit who is committed to supporting the emotional and mental well-being of those who’ve served by pairing them with a loyal, steady presence—one they can care for and count on every day. We are proud to provide this service completely free of charge to those we serve.
Our Goal
We aim to reduce the alarming rates of suicide within these communities by offering more than just a pet—we offer purpose, connection, and hope. Each Buddy Dog becomes a lifeline, helping individuals and families navigate life beyond the call with support, routine, and unconditional companionship.
Tell Us Your Story
Veterans, Active Duty Military, first responders and members of Gold Star Families can submit a simple application to begin the journey. We’re here to listen and support you.
We’ll Find Your Match
Our team carefully selects a dog based on your lifestyle, personality, and specific support needs as well.
Build the Connection
You’ll train with your dog under our guidance, building trust and skills that set you both up for long-term success.
Support that makes a difference
Well-trained dogs help reduce symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression. Studies show that veterans and first responders paired with companion dogs experience better emotional regulation, improved sleep, and increased social connection. These Buddy Dogs offer not just comfort, but a sense of safety, purpose, and grounding in daily life.
Connection that saves lives
Companion dogs are a proven tool in suicide prevention. The bond between a human and their dog can be life-saving. For many who have faced trauma or isolation, a well-trained companion brings daily motivation, routine and an ever-present reminder: you’re not alone. These aren’t just dogs–they’re lifelines.
